About Me
A 2007 and 2009 Miami University graduate, I hold a Bachelors degree in Music Education and a Masters degree in Instructional Design and Technology. I am currently an instructional designer at San Jacinto College in Houston, Texas. I spend my work-weeks assisting and instructing faculty on the implementation of technologies in their face-to-face and hybrid/online courses.
Prior to my employment at SanJac, I spent 2 years in the Center for the Enhancement of Learning, Teaching, and University Assessment (CELTUA, formerly CELT) at Miami University. Through this job, I had the opportunity to meet college professors and consultants of higher education from around the world. Without the opportunities that the office has given me, I wouldn’t have the experience that I do in presenting at national conferences.
In April 2009, I started an instructional consulting company, Red Dog Technology Solutions, LLC. RDTS specializes in website design & hosting, database design, 1-on-1 or group trainings, and the implementation of social media/networks into PR and advertising. Formerly based in Oxford, OH and now located in Houston, TX, RDTS offers free consultations and quotes. While the official LLC is no longer in operation, I do still offer services as Mevins Consulting. If you are interested in receiving a quote, contact me via the contact page.
When I’m not putting in 40+ hours a week at SanJac or consulting with individuals and organizations, I teach private music lessons, conduct musical ensembles, and play intramural broomball. I love everything that I do and I don’t want to give any of it up!
