In short, I am a educator who focuses on improving instruction, primarily in the culture of higher education. My expertise involves providing innovative ways of engaging students, both traditional and non-traditional, in multiple course-delivery formats. In addition, my interests include exploring how social media can be implemented and used effectively in education. I am an instructional designer, faculty developer, and educational technology consultant.
I hold a Bachelors degree in Music Education and a Masters degree in Instructional Design and Technology from a liberal arts university in the Midwest United States. After spending 13 months out of my comfort zone working for a 2-year community college across the country from family and friends, I decided to return to my roots where I am an instructional designer in a highly rated 4-year institution. I spend my time collaborating and engaging with instructors on the implementation of technologies in their face-to-face and hybrid/online courses.
In addition to my work as an instructional designer, I am also involved with faculty development conferences, primarily the Lilly Conference on College Teaching. I have been published in the Journal on Centers for Teaching and Learning and frequently present on a variety of pedagogical issues surrounding educational technology in higher education.
